Strion Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Strion mobile app, the strion.dev website, and related services (together, the "Service"), provided by Strion ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Strion is an Android app that connects to your vehicle through a standard Bluetooth OBD2 adapter to provide trip logging, driving analytics, diagnostics, engine health checks, carbon scoring, and an AI assistant that explains your vehicle's data in plain language. The Service does not use GPS or location tracking.

Some features of the Service are free. Strion Premium is an optional paid subscription that unlocks additional features in the Android app (see Section 7).

Some other items are described as "coming soon" (for example, a dedicated Strion OBD2 device). Those are not yet available, are offered on a waitlist basis only, and may change or be withdrawn before launch. A waitlisted hardware device is not included with a Premium subscription.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.

4. Safety and responsible use

Do not interact with the app while driving. You are solely responsible for operating your vehicle safely and complying with all traffic laws. The Service provides informational insights only and is not a substitute for inspection, diagnosis, or repair by a qualified professional mechanic. Always use your own judgment, and consult a professional before acting on any diagnostic result, clearing any trouble codes, or performing any repair.

Engine health scores, readiness results, and similar metrics are estimates based on the OBD2 data your vehicle reports. They can miss issues that standard OBD2 parameters cannot see (for example mechanical wear), and they can flag readings that are normal for some vehicles. Treat them as an early signal to investigate, not as a guarantee that an engine is good or bad.

5. AI-generated content

The Service uses third-party AI (Google Gemini) to generate explanations and suggestions. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. You should independently verify any important information before relying on it. We make no warranty as to the accuracy of AI-generated content.

6. Waitlists and marketing

If you join a waitlist, you provide your name and email so we can notify you about availability. We handle this information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You can ask us to remove you at any time by contacting us at the address below.

7. Premium subscriptions

Strion Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription purchased in the Android app through Google Play Billing. Google is the merchant of record. Premium is currently available on Android only.

7.1 What Premium includes

Premium currently includes:

  • Comprehensive (drive-phase) engine health checks
  • AI-generated insights on engine-health reports
  • Trends and baseline history in the app
  • PDF export of reports
  • Agent chat on a more capable AI model, with a higher daily message limit (currently 100 messages per day)

The free tier continues to include unlimited quick (idle) health checks, diagnostic-code reading and the DTC explainer, trip logging, and a limited number of agent-chat messages per day (currently 5). We may change which features are free or premium, and the applicable limits, by updating the App and these Terms. The in-app paywall shows the current offering.

7.2 Price, billing, and renewal

Monthly and annual plans are available. The price, currency, taxes, and billing period are shown by Google Play before you subscribe and may vary by country. Google processes the payment; we never receive your payment card or bank details.

Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel it before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time in your Google Play subscription settings (or from the in-app "Manage Subscription" control, which opens Google Play). After you cancel, Premium access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Uninstalling the App or deleting your Strion account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in Google Play to stop billing.

If we later offer a free trial or introductory price, Google Play will show those terms before you subscribe. Unless stated otherwise, you will be charged the regular price when the trial or offer ends unless you cancel first.

7.3 Restore, account binding, and payment issues

You can restore a purchase to the same Strion account from the in-app paywall. A subscription is bound to the Strion account that completed the purchase and cannot be transferred by restore to a different Strion account.

If a renewal payment fails, Google Play may keep the subscription in a grace period during which Premium access continues, then place it on hold (access ends) if the payment is not resolved. A pending payment does not unlock Premium until Google confirms the purchase.

7.4 Refunds

Refund requests are handled by Google Play under Google's refund policies. We do not process card refunds ourselves. A refund or revocation may remove Premium access immediately.

Google's Payments Terms of Service and the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to the transaction.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service in any unlawful manner or for any unlawful purpose;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code, except where permitted by law;
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems;
  • Circumvent, probe, or interfere with subscription, entitlement, or usage limits;
  • Use the Service to build a competing product, or resell or redistribute it without our written permission.

9. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, content, branding, and design, is owned by Strion and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.

10. Third-party services and hardware

The Service relies on third-party services (including Google Firebase, Google Gemini, and Google Play Billing) and on third-party OBD2 hardware that you supply. We are not responsible for third-party hardware, services, or their terms, and your use of them may be governed by separate agreements.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Strion will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or vehicle damage, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your account from within the app.

Ending your access to the Service, or deleting your account, does not cancel a Google Play subscription. You remain responsible for any charges Google bills until you cancel in Google Play.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
